What a recall actually means

A recall is a manufacturer admitting a fault. NHTSA publishes each one. Campaign number, component, consequence, remedy.

One campaign usually covers several model years. We count campaigns, not model years, so the numbers here are smaller than a raw row count and closer to what you care about.

The repair costs you nothing. You do not need the original dealer. Most recalls never expire.
