Who files them

Most of these are filed by Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing. That is the legal entity NHTSA holds responsible. It is not always the name on the badge.

Reading a recall count

A big number here is not a verdict on the brand. Recalls track how many cars a maker sells and how many different models it builds. A maker with twenty models will out-recall one with four.

What matters is your car. Check the campaigns for your model and year, then run your VIN. The repair is free either way.
